Each leg has been graded for difficulty by adding the elevation gain to the distance to arrive at a Grizzly Claw Rating. With individual legs rated for all abilities our Ultra Marathon makes for the perfect team event. Nipika's Meadow serves as a sweet base camp from which to cheer on your team-mates.

2023 EVENT CANCELLED DUE WILDFIRES

EVENT CANCELLATION NOTICE POSTED AUGUST 05, 2023.

GRIZZLY ULTRA NIPIKA CANCELLED DUE TO MULTIPLE WILDFIRES BURNING IN THE AREA

A provincial Incident Management Team has been assigned to the Horsethief Creek fire, the nearby Yearling Creek wildfire (on the southern boundary of Kootenay National Park) and Mia Creek wildfire (east of Canal Flats). Collectively the three fires are known as the Horsethief Complex.
The Yearling Creek Wildfire has been burning for several weeks forcing an evacuation order for Nipika Mountain Resort. The resort is closed until further notice. All access to the area is strictly prohibited for the foreseeable future.

Sadly, the fire has burned a section of our Grizzly Ultra race course which has left the affected trails totally unusable.

Thanks to huge efforts from fire crews working in the air and on the ground, Nipika Mountain Resort cabins have been successfully protected.
Due to smoke produced by multiple wildfires, special air quality statements have been issued for the region and are likely to continue to be posted for several weeks.
Permitting for the event will not be issued until 3 days prior to event race day and will be contingent on lifting of the evacuation order.
For these reasons, we have made the tough decision to cancel this year's race.

Bib transfers are not permitted. 60% of your Grizzly Ultra entry fee will be refunded or 100% rolled over to our 2024 race if the event is cancelled for ANY reason. Your entry fee is 100% non-refundable and cannot be rolled over for any other circumstances. Bib transfers are not permitted. You will need to click and agree to these strict policies when you register.

All registration fees are subject to additional 5% G.S.T. and online processing fee.
